Carmen Andrade

Carmen Andrade earned her Associates degree and continued studying at Estatal University in Ecuador before moving to the United States in 1984. She dedicated herself to raising her four children before continuing her studies at Plaza College and Touro College. While in Ecuador, Carmen was an English Teacher at Dolores Torres Public School and Abdon Calderón Military School, teaching Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students for four years. In the United States she worked as an assistant teacher in Jackson Heights Children Center for two years. She then began as an assistant teacher and moved to a head teacher position in BWY School in Jackson Heights for nine years. At BWY Carmen worked with three and four year old children and with a Universal Pre-K program. Carmen came to La Escuelita in July 2008 excited to continue her own professional development teaching in a new environment, and to teach in Spanish again. Carmen brings her love for song to the classroom, as she feels that children learn language easily through signing.
