Erica Olivo

Erica Olivo experienced first-hand the benefits of a dual language education. When she arrived from the Dominican Republic with her family she attended P.S. 75 through 5th grade. She continued on to complete her Associates degree in 2006, studying Liberal Arts at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. She is currently enrolled at Queens College in a Bachelor’s degree program in Early Childhood Education. Prior to joining the La Escuelita teaching team, Erica worked for several years at Bank Street as a counselor in the Bank Street Summer Camp and then also as an assistant teacher for children six months through three years of age in the Bank Street Family Center. Erica learned about La Escuelita and La Escuelita learned of Erica when she worked in Bank Street Summer Camp’s Spanish immersion class, a program La Escuelita aided in establishing, in the summer of 2007. Erica is enthusiastic about working in a dual language early childhood setting because she loves the energy and creative characters that younger students bring to their learning environments.
