Playgroups

Playgroups provide an opportunity for children to socialize, for English speaking children to learn Spanish, and for Spanish speaking children to develop their language skills.

Playgroups are run in Spanish by a bilingual teacher. The child's parent and/or caregiver will learn easy strategies for reinforcing the child's language in both English and Spanish during daily activities. For example, key Spanish vocabulary will be taught for use at home. English speaking, Spanish speaking, bilingual and multilingual families are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Playgroups are limited to 8-10 children.

These Spanish language enrichment playgroups meet once or twice weekly for a 12-week session in the fall and spring and for a 6-week session in the summer. Sessions will be held from January through May, June through July, and September through December.

Playgroups are filled on a first-come basis.  To register, an application must be completed and submitted with full payment for the desired session. Applications can be obtained online or by calling (212) 877-1100. Refunds of $100.00 will be given up until the date of the first class, at which time no refund will be given.
