The contributions of caring individuals are crucial to the success of La Escuelita. Parents and other family members donate time and talent in a myriad of ways (OUR TEAM:PARENTS), from assisting with classroom projects to organizing events such as Book Fair and Carnaval, to participating in the Parent Leadership Team. Financial contributions are an equally important cornerstone of support. We must rely on financial support to develop and sustain our rich curriculum, our outstanding staff, and our capability to support those families who may need assistance. At La Escuelita, there is an extraordinary return on your investment.
La Escuelita welcomes support from its parent body, the greater school community, and all those interested in strengthening a diverse, inclusive dual language school. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law, and may be undesignated or earmarked to three different funds. To donate online, please click here.
Annual Giving
La Escuelita is fortunate to receive unrestricted contributions that support the operational expenses of the school. These funds help us to attract and retain talented teachers and staff, offer extracurricular activities such as music and yoga, and maintain our facilities. The flexibility of unrestricted funds allows the school immediately to put the contribution to work in the areas of greatest need. The majority of donations to La Escuelita are made to Annual Giving, and are highly appreciated.
Tuition Reduction Fund
In keeping with our core value of diversity, each year the Board of Directors dedicates a portion of the budget to tuition reduction. These funds enable families who need assistance to request a payment plan or apply for reduced tuition. In most years, approximately 25% of La Escuelita families have received a reduction. Your contribution to this fund increases the amount of aid possible, making the La Escuelita experience attainable for more children.
Staff Development Fund
La Escuelita believes in ongoing learning for staff as well as students. The Staff Development Fund fosters up-to-date educational practices in keeping with current research. Teachers benefit from the availability of in-service weeks before school opens, attendance at the NAEYC Conference in the fall, and participation in workshops throughout the school year. If you appreciate the high quality of the personalized, thoughtful work our teachers do with their students, please support the Staff Development Fund.
Capital Campaign Fund
Capital funds are raised for projects which are outside the limits of the annual operating budget. Typically such funds are earmarked for creating an endowment or a relocation/renovation. For more information about the Capital Campaign Fund, please contact Martha Escobar, Treasurer of the Board of Directors, at martha.escobar@laescuelitanyc.org.

Every year, teachers and staff develop a wish list of items with which you might assist us. Please take a look, and see if anything on the list is available in your house right now, waiting for a new home. Please email Juleime Cepeda at Juleime.cepeda@laescuelitanyc.org with any questions.
Dress-Up Clothes. Have any old children-sized Halloween costumes? Big floppy sun hats or sunglasses that are no longer your style? Chunky costume jewelry? Bring it in and help make play time that much more fun for the students!
Books. As many as we have, we can never get enough! High quality, non-commercial Spanish language and bilingual books will always be appreciated. If your child has outgrown your favorite dual language book, then rest assured that our students will give it the love it deserves.
Puzzles. Large, 20 to 40 piece floor puzzles are consistently in demand! Teachers are constantly changing them out based on that unit’s theme, so we try to have a wide variety on hand. Have a puzzle about dinosaurs? Farm animals? Food? ABCs? Transportation? All subjects are welcome!
Legos. Somehow, our students could always use a few more Duplos. Any sets or individual pieces are always welcome in the six classrooms.
